Batch Management ECCEWM

Hi

I am working on an EWM  project  and have not been able to clearly understand EWM batch management and will appreciate your experts thoughts on this subject.ECC and EWM are separate instance.

Currently in ECC our products are batch managed and are classified during goods receipt. The batch numbers are generated and created during goods receipt where the characteristic values are entered during Goods receipt. These batch  numbers then are transferred to an external system where a corresponding batch number is again generated. This new batch number from the external system then becomes the leading batch number and a 309 movement is done to transfer the old batch of ECC to the new batch which was generate in external system. Now the 309 transfers the batch characteristic values to the new batch and all these characteristics are custom characteristics and some of these are referenced characteristics where they refer to ECC table MARA,LFA1 etc

So our first struggle is to decide where should we first generate our batch number(ECC or EWM).But my basic question is why the custom characteristic values do not get transferred to EWM system if i generate a batch beforehand using MSC1N transaction and.I also saw that unreferenced custom characteristic values got transferred to EWM using MSC1N transaction.

Assuming that we continue to do our receipts in ECC where batch number gets generated during MIGO and i enter batch characteristic values in MIGO and then i use a Transfer posting to move batch from IM to WM location using 311 or 309 then how can i transfer custom batch characteristic values to EWM batch.

Is there a configuration missing in ECC or EWM due to which custom referenced batch characteristic values are not transferring from ECC to EWM  as Business folks who use EWM want to see custom batch characterisctic vlaues in EWM batch master. The referenced standard LOBM* characteristics get transsferred from ECC to EWM.

I have done all the necessary settings in Integration model and have assigned org areas to the class in ECC

Also is it possible to see batch characteristic values in inbound delivery in EWM and whether there is a similar feature in EWM where i can see batch characteristic values in warehouse task similar to classification tab in MIGO under batch tab

Based on your replies i will ask further  questions on batch management behaviour in EWM

Thanks a lot for your time
